About
Diego has been CEO of InnoEnergy since 2010, steering its growth into a global leader in industrialising clean tech innovation. Under his leadership, its portfolio companies are set to generate €110 billion in revenue and save 2.1G tons of CO₂e by 2030. Previously, he was CEO of Atos Origin Spain & South America, managing 9,000 employees and €450M in turnover. He also held leadership roles at SchlumbergerSema and co-founded a startup in AI-driven industrial controls. Diego holds an electrical engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.


About
Bart joined InnoEnergy as CFO in 2011, bringing deep financial expertise from multinational corporations such as Reed Elsevier and Cisco. Before that, he was CFO of an international printing company with 850 employees and €130M in revenue. His background in financial strategy, risk management, and budgeting supports InnoEnergy’s long-term sustainability. Bart holds a degree in economics.


About
Elena co-founded InnoEnergy in 2010 and since then she has served as Innovation Director. Her work in scaling sustainable energy start-ups earned her the Nobel Sustainability Trust Award in 2023. Previously, she created a software spinoff and worked in management consulting. Professor at ESADE since 1998, she has published extensively on knowledge and innovation management. Elena holds a PhD in Management Sciences, an MBA, and degrees from ESADE, Florida University, and Copenhagen Business School. She is a regular Forbes contributor.


About
Frank became Education Director at InnoEnergy in 2017, following a career spanning R&D, venture capital, and digital transformation. As CEO of Tellium EMEA and Head of Incubation at iMinds, he helped shape one of the world’s top university accelerators. He previously held senior software roles at AT&T Bell Labs, Alcatel, and Tellium, which successfully launched an IPO on NASDAQ. A Professor at the University of Ghent, Frank continues to drive technology entrepreneurship in academia. He holds a PhD in Computer Science.


About
Mikel has been with InnoEnergy since 2010, shaping its impact in Iberia with expertise in renewable energy and technology innovation. Previously, he led wind turbine technology at Apia XXI and the Spanish National Centre for Renewable Energy. His career also includes research and engineering roles at Robert Bosch and Valeo in Germany and France. A former university lecturer, he contributed to six wind turbine technology patents. Mikel holds a Mechanical Engineering degree, a PhD from Otto-von-Guericke University, and an MBA from the University of Deusto.


About
Jacob brings extensive experience across the energy value chain to his dual role as CEO of InnoEnergy Benelux & UK and Director of Newco Building. Before joining, he was Director of Energy Advisory at DNV GL, overseeing activities in Benelux, Africa, and the Middle East. He also held senior roles at Essent, as Managing Director – B2B and Managing Director – Heat Distribution Division. His career began as a field engineer at Schlumberger before transitioning to commercial roles at Weatherford. Jacob holds an MSc in Mining Engineering and an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management.

Karine leads InnoEnergy France, bringing over 20 years of experience in the global energy sector. She has spearheaded clean energy initiatives at ENGIE and GRTgaz and founded two companies in the natural gas and digital sectors. Her entrepreneurial background and industry expertise provide valuable insights into scaling energy start-ups. She worked for 3 years in the French Prime Minister Administration, being in charged of financing innovation in the Energy sector. She is committed to accelerating clean energy innovation in France and beyond. Karine holds a PhD in Econometrics.


About
Lowina brings 25 years of experience across IT, Telecom, and Energy prior to her role as CEO of InnoEnergy Scandinavia. Before joining, she was EVP of Electricity System Operations at Svenska Kraftnät and held leadership roles at Ellevio, overseeing meter management and grid connections. She also chaired key industry groups at Eurelectric and eSett. A determined and inspiring leader, she is passionate about driving clean energy innovation. Lowina holds an MSc in Business Administration from Stockholm University.


About
Mikołaj brings a strong background in industrial energy transformation to his role as CEO of InnoEnergy Central Europe. Before joining, he was Chief Innovation Officer at Boryszew Group, leading investments in new technologies across hard-to-abate sectors. He also served as Poland’s Minister of Treasury, overseeing energy sector privatisation. A board member at Repono, he continues to shape industrial decarbonisation. Mikołaj holds a PhD from Jagiellonian University and studied at Stanford and Warsaw University.


About
Christian will join InnoEnergy in May 2025, bringing over two decades of leadership in mobility, clean tech, renewable energy, and electrification. Previously, he held key leadership roles at Volocopter and Daimler/Mercedes-Benz, where he led global partnerships with Renault/Nissan, HERE Technologies, and Microsoft. With a strong focus on industrial decarbonisation and energy independence, he is committed to scaling impactful innovations and fostering international collaboration to strengthen Europe’s clean tech leadership.


Hervé Bernard

Hervé has decades of experience in energy policy, research, and governance. He served as Deputy Administrator General of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) from 2008 to 2018 and is a Member of the Board of Governors at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Recognised for his contributions to science and industry, he has been awarded the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.


Karl-Friedrich Ziegahn

Karl-Friedrich is a distinguished expert in energy, environment, and sustainability research. He served as Head of Division Natural and Built Environment at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), overseeing multiple faculties and Helmholtz research programs spanning renewable energy, efficiency, and climate science. Previously, he led the ‘Energy and Environment’ program at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and was KIT’s Chief Science Officer. In 2020, he was appointed as a KIT Distinguished Senior Fellow.


Daniel Dobbeni

Daniel is a seasoned leader in the European energy sector, with extensive experience in grid operations and market integration. He served as CEO of ELIA from 2003 to 2012 before becoming President of 50Hertz Transmission. As President of ENTSO-E (2009–2013), he played a key role in shaping Europe’s electricity market and cross-border transmission policies. He is currently Managing Director of ETHAN SPRL-BVBA.
