Nitrogen fertilizers are today responsible for emissions comparable to the aviation industry. The pioneering Swedish Agtech company NitroCapt has developed an innovative process that eliminates the need for fossil fuels in nitrogen fertilizer production, drastically reducing carbon dioxide emissions. NitroCapt’s SUNIFIX® technology is indeed an electrified low-carbon manufacturing process for nitrate fertilizer allowing for local and cost-efficient production.

The partnership between NitroCapt and VIVESCIA aims to build production facilities in the Grand Est region of France, capable of producing green nitrogen fertilizers for 750,000 hectares – equivalent to one-third of all farmland in Sweden.

 

The collaboration will integrate NitroCapt’s SUNIFIX® technology into VIVESCIA’s “Programme TRANSITIONS”, a trailblazing initiative focused on promoting low-carbon, resilient, and highly productive agriculture. This partnership will enhance the agronomic and economic performance of agricultural practices while significantly boosting sustainability.

Looking ahead, NitroCapt plans to establish its first industrial production unit in France. Subject to mutual agreement and satisfaction with the demonstrator plant’s performance, NitroCapt and VIVESCIA aim to expand this model, developing industrial-scale production in VIVESCIA’s operational regions. This expansion will secure a larger supply of local, low-carbon nitrogen fertilizer, supporting the broader agricultural sector’s transition towards sustainability.
