NitroCapt secures major deal with Felleskjøpet Agri for low-carbon nitrogen fertilizer

In a series of significant achievements, NitroCapt has signed a substantial pre-order agreement with Felleskjøpet Agri, a leading Norwegian farmers’ cooperative. This deal, valued at 10 million SEK (approx. 880 000 EUR), marks another important milestone for the Uppsala-based Agtech company. Just weeks after announcing a strategic partnership with VIVESCIA, a prominent agricultural and agri-food cooperative in France and Europe, NitroCapt continues to advance its mission of reducing global CO2 emissions from agriculture.

Innovative green technology

NitroCapt’s SUNIFER® fertilizer is produced through a groundbreaking process that electrifies nitrogen fertilizer production, eliminating the need for fossil fuels. This patented technology drastically reduces CO2 emissions and lowers production costs, offering a high-quality, sustainable solution for the agricultural sector.

Commitment to reducing emissions

Felleskjøpet Agri has identified nitrogen fertilizer as a major source of scope 3 emissions. By partnering with NitroCapt, “we aim to enhance our sustainable offering with fertilizers that have low greenhouse gas emissions and also promote good agronomy,” said Ragnar Dæhli, business area manager at Felleskjøpet Agri. He also noted their trust in Gustaf Forsberg, CEO of NitroCapt, due to his successful track record with Thermo Seed technology.

Collaborating for environmental impact

Highlighting the synergy of this collaboration, Gustaf Forsberg commented: “Felleskjøpet has a strong agenda to reduce greenhouse gases, and our technology has the potential to become superior in terms of energy efficiency, which in turn also impacts production cost and results in nitrate, a high-quality fertilizer with significant benefits for both agriculture and the environment. We look forward to strengthening our partnership in the coming years.”

Looking ahead

NitroCapt recently inaugurated its pilot plant in Uppsala and plans to build its first full-scale plant by 2027. This facility will supply low CO2 emission nitrogen fertilizer for up to 80,000 hectares using only fossil-free electricity. Supported by investments from LRF Ventures, Almi Invest, and InnoEnergy, NitroCapt is poised to make a significant impact on sustainable agriculture.

This agreement with Felleskjøpet Agri is a testament to NitroCapt’s innovative approach and commitment to transforming the fertilizer industry for a more sustainable future. For more information, read NitroCapt’s press release.
