Novatron Fusion Group achieves major milestone in clean fusion energy development

Novatron Fusion Group (NFG), a portfolio company of InnoEnergy, has reached a major milestone in advancing clean fusion energy technology. The company successfully completed system integration tests of its Novatron 1 (N1) machine, along with initial ionization experiments using hydrogen plasma. This achievement launches an experimental campaign to validate the design’s innovative approach to plasma stabilization.

Engineering excellence

The milestone is a crucial step in testing NFG’s reactor concept, which aims to achieve stable plasma confinement—a key challenge for continuous fusion energy production. “Nine months ago, the laboratory had an empty floor,” said Peter Roos, CEO of Novatron Fusion Group. “Today, having constructed and assembled the N1 machine proves the remarkable engineering effort conducted by an impressive team. Following rigorous testing of critical system components, we’ve successfully integrated them into a working system. This achievement reflects the dedication of our exceptional workforce.”

Advancing experimental campaigns

With the successful creation of plasma, NFG is set to move into the next phase, focusing on experiments to assess plasma density, temperature, and stability. These tests aim to demonstrate the sustained confinement of plasma that is central to their reactor design, which utilizes advanced magnetic fields.

A benchmark in fusion technology innovation

The N1 machine will not only serve as a testbed for this novel approach but also provide a platform for comparing its performance against traditional mirror machines. Novatron Fusion Group is one of the few private companies in Europe to build a facility based on its fusion concept, transitioning from theory and simulations to a tangible prototype. This progress paves the way for future developments and represents a significant step toward revolutionizing fusion energy production.

Congratulations to the entire Novatron team for this monumental stride in the pursuit of clean fusion energy technology.
