E.Leclerc Partners with Mob Energy to Revolutionize EV Charging in Supermarket Car Parks

With over two million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles now on French roads, public charging has become a key part of the EV experience — with 80% of drivers already using public charging points. Although home charging remains the most common method, drivers are diversifying, using an average of 4.4 different charging locations. Supermarkets, central to everyday French life, are increasingly stepping up by offering convenient charging options in their car parks.

Since 1 January 2025, the French Mobility Orientation Law (LOM) has introduced stricter requirements for businesses and retail sites to provide EV charging facilities. For supermarkets, this represents a valuable opportunity to enhance customer service by offering simple, accessible, and efficient charging solutions.

In this context, E.Leclerc — the iconic supermarket chain serving one-third of French consumers every month — has partnered with Mob-Energy, a French startup backed by InnoEnergy and specialized in innovative energy optimization solutions. Together, they have equipped the car park of the E.Leclerc store in Autun (Saône-et-Loire) with Mob-Energy’s revolutionary “Eiko” charging platform, available via long-term rental through Mob-Energy Infra.

Eiko offers a unique, work-free deployment model: without any major construction, it can recharge up to 25 vehicles using the same electrical power typically required by a single traditional charging point. Powered by intelligent algorithms, Eiko optimally distributes energy based on each user’s needs.

Thanks to this partnership, E.Leclerc customers in Autun (France) can now enjoy a seamless charging experience. They can select the amount of range they wish to recover, set their desired parking duration (aligned with their shopping time), and see the total cost of their session clearly — all before they even start charging.

This collaboration marks an important step forward in making EV charging more accessible, flexible, and customer-friendly — reinforcing E.Leclerc’s commitment to innovation and sustainability at the heart of the French shopping experience.
