The missing middle: Why midstream materials hold the key to Europe’s circular and resilient battery value chain
19 November, 8:00–10:00
Cardo Brussels Hotel, Avenue du Boulevard 14, 1210 Brussels
The European Battery Alliance (EBA) is pleased to invite you to attend our upcoming side session during Raw Materials Week in Brussels.
This session will focus on the often-overlooked midstream stage of the battery value chain: the critical step of refining and processing raw materials into pCAM, CAM, and anode materials for cell manufacturing.
As Europe accelerates gigafactory construction, midstream capacity continues to lag behind projected demand. Without sufficient midstream capability, extraction and refining projects face limited local off-take, pushing valuable materials abroad and weakening Europe’s strategic autonomy.
A robust midstream is essential to anchor upstream mining and refining investments and ensure recycled materials can re-enter European production.
The session will bring together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss practical solutions for strengthening Europe’s midstream and securing a resilient and competitive battery value chain.
