Gas2Move saves over 60 tons of CO2 emission in its first 12 months of logistics operations

Gas2Move, a startup supported by EIT InnoEnergy, has closed its first year since the beginning of operations, with savings in CO emissions of more than 60 tons through the use of vehicles powered by natural gas.

The vehicles used over the past 12 months by Gas2Move have travelled 5.6 million kilometres since, in January 2019, the first distribution routes for the main logistics operators began. Throughout this period, the company has grown to cover a total of 327 routes, in 20 Spanish regions.

The figures provided by Gas2Move reflect the data collected in real-time in its “Green Wheels” application, which manages “end to end” the whole activity of the company, collecting the millions of “beats” that its daily work produces and an energy-saving simulator created by the University of Valladolid.

The Gas2Move fleet, which has been increasing progressively since last January, achieved a CO₂ saving of 69,785 kilograms, 1,117.38 kilograms of NO₂ (nitrous oxide) and 0.518 kilograms of black particles. The latter are the ones that produce pollution clouds in our cities.

The director of Operations of Gas2Move, Andrés Nieto, points out that “vehicular natural gas, either in its CNG or LNG modality, reduces between 25-30% of CO2 emissions, 85% of nitrous and sulphurous oxides and 95% of the black particles. The presence of these vehicles in our towns and cities achieves an incredibly positive impact on the atmosphere. The agreements with our clients, the main logistic operators of our country, allow us to advance in this objective of making a distribution, not only more efficient and competitive but also eco-sustainable”. Also, “our vehicles reduce noise pollution while advancing in new propulsion projects for other alternative energies: hydrogen, biogas and electricity, mainly”.

Gas2Move, which has its headquarters in Valdemoro (Madrid), provides logistics services to DHL, SEUR, Correos Express, Zeleris, Paack, GLS, Dachser, Alfil Logistics, Logwin, Tourline, FedEx, MRW, Sending, Salvat Logística and CBL Logistics.

In less than two years of life, since its creation from a startup of Enagás Emprende, it has become the leader of the eco-sustainable distribution of last-mile logistics in Spain.
