Continuing to share good news and achievements of my fellow classmates, this time I am excited to share that the news also include myself! William Wiseman and I, Alba Forns, have been nominated as Young Global Changers and are amongst the 50 semi finalists for the Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards 2022! From our journey in Master’s in Renewable Energy to co-founding of the startup, Climatize Earth, I am thrilled to be nominated for this recognition.
The Young Global Changers
The Global Solutions Initiative is a collaborative enterprise comprised of a network of think tanks. They provide research-based policy advice to governments to tackle global challenges of the G20, generate proposals for aligning economic, social, and political activities to address human needs in thriving societies and are leading the movement of economic, political, social, and environmental recoupling.
The Young Global Changers (by the Global Solutions Initiative) identifies, connects, and empowers young people worldwide who actively pursue change in their communities with the aim to boost their impact. Annually, after an extensive selection process, a new cohort of Young Global Changers joins the initiative!
What are the Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards?
The Global Solutions Initiative has recently created the Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards. Through the Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards, the Global Solutions Initiative aims to recognise impactful projects driving societal change. Projects must be innovative, people-centric and address issues that have been previously overlooked. The projects must be past the ideation phase and can range from companies to non-profits.
…and what about Climatize Earth?
Climatize enables users to take climate action while earning money easily, affordably, and automatically by simply investing the spare change from everyday credit card purchases into crowd-financing clean energy projects.
The app tracks a complete picture of the user’s financial and climate impact as they spend and invest – giving an overview of the impact in a simple and actionable dashboard. As the investments grow, the user also earns achievements and points which can be redeemed for incentives for their favourite sustainable brands!
What does it mean to be a semi-finalist?
Our startup, Climatize, has been selected as one of the Top 50 projects for the Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards 2022. This means that both Will and I get to be part of the Young Global Changers and have the opportunity to connect with experts from the Global Solution’s Initiative’s network, as well as participating in events and collaborative projects.
Next steps
As next steps, if Climatize is selected as one of the 10 finalists we will be invited to pitch at the upcoming 2022 Global Solutions Summit on March in Berlin, where we would be presenting our project in front of an international jury that will be selecting three winners!
