Since co-founding InnoEnergy in 2010, the clean energy landscape has transformed from niche ambitions to unstoppable momentum. What once was a question of “if” is now about “how fast” the energy transition unfolds across Europe and beyond.
Our latest Annual Review highlights how InnoEnergy has been instrumental in turning policy ambitions into real-world impact by supporting innovative clean technologies reaching industrial scale.
Expanding our ecosystem
In 2024, we welcomed new shareholders including OMV, OMV Petrom, ACB Participaties B.V., and Boryszew S.A., as part of the successful €140+ million private placement.
Investment highlights and portfolio growth
Despite challenging macroeconomic and fundraising conditions, our portfolio companies closed 56 funding rounds in 2024, raising over €9.8 billion. These investments span wave energy, battery technology, green steel, and more, reflecting our commitment to backing solutions that address critical energy challenges. We invested in 14 new clean tech startups last year, bringing our portfolio to more than 160 companies.
Shaping the future of European industry
Unlocking growth equity is only part of the equation. Turning that capital into tangible impact means building new industrial champions from the ground up. Our company builders – Repono, Verkor, GravitHy, FertigHy, and Holosolis – are pioneering the production of low-carbon materials essential for Europe’s energy independence. This strong momentum has earned InnoEnergy recognition by PitchBook as the most active VC investor in energy globally – for the fourth time.
Bridging Europe’s growth equity gap
Europe faces a shortfall in late-stage capital, particularly in capital-intensive sectors such as batteries. To address this, we launched the EBA Strategic Battery Materials Fund with Demeter, targeting a €500 million investment vehicle to ensure competitive and secure supply chains for European battery makers. Together with our partners, we continue unlocking capital to scale the next generation of industrial champions.
Supporting Europe’s clean industrial transition
Our vision extends beyond investment. We aim to enable a resilient, decarbonised energy system in Europe. By fostering innovation, aligning public and private capital, and supporting robust market development, we’re working to make clean tech the backbone of Europe’s industrial future.
The energy transition is no longer about if, but how quickly we can deliver it. At InnoEnergy, innovation sparks the change, investment fuels it, and industry builds it. Together, we’re leading Europe’s path to a sustainable, energy-secure future.
