Why clean tech delivery now depends on workforce readiness
Clean tech workforce readiness now sets the pace of the energy transition. Roadmaps are set and capital is flowing, with solar and wind already deployed at industrial scale across Europe. What sets the pace now is whether organisations have the people who can build and operate these systems, and that capability is arriving more slowly than the technology.
The bottleneck is readiness. You can recruit people and still miss delivery dates if they are not ready to operate the new systems. Roles are also changing faster than training adapts, which widens the distance between the skills a workforce has and the skills the work needs. A few figures set the scene:

Readiness is something you build. It comes from connecting roles, skills, training and certification into one system, so that learning shows up as operational capability. The European Commission frames this as a delivery issue too: its Electrification Action Plan, published in July 2026, names addressing skills shortages, alongside reinforcing supply chains and manufacturing, as one of the actions Europe needs to keep electrification on track.
