A solution based on hydrothermal carbonisation allowing separation of phosphorous and heavy metals from sludge, degeneration of toxins, deactivation of pharmaceuticals and transformation of the remaining sludge into bio-coal.
The need
Municipal and industrial sludge is a complex waste stream that is difficult to dewater and contains pathogens, contaminants, and valuable nutrients such as phosphorus. With tightening regulations and rising disposal costs, there is an increasing need for more sustainable sludge management solutions.
The solution
C-Green’s HTC technology converts wet sludge into a dry, sterile and inert carbon product, eliminating pathogens while significantly improving dewaterability. The process is highly energy-efficient because it treats sludge in its wet state and integrates well with existing anaerobic digestion, creating strong synergies in wastewater treatment plants. In addition, the HTC system is compact and robust, enabling cost-effective and reliable sludge management.
