The need

Offshore renewable energy is crucial in achieving climate neutrality by 2050 (European Commission). However, floating wind solutions in sites located in deep waters can pose a particular challenge. Current technology is too costly for utilities and power producers.

The solution

X1 Wind has developed an effective solution for the offshore wind market: an innovative floating wind platform that significantly reduces capital expenditures and levelised cost of energy (LCOE). With floating offshore wind now cost-effective, this taps into the phenomenal wind potential of deep-water locations. X1 Wind’s approach is based on a downwind-configured weathervane platform that makes an efficient structural design possible with minimal environmental impact on the ocean.
