As the global transition to sustainable energy accelerates, the need for skilled professionals to drive this change is more pressing than ever. In collaboration with InnoEnergy Skills Institute, greentech.training, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Chamber of Commerce in Tripoli, a forward-thinking initiative is underway in Lebanon. This project is designed to equip young professionals with the vital skills needed to support the solar energy industry, offering hands-on training and internationally recognised certification in solar technology.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on Clean Energy, Decent Work, and Sustainable Communities. With solar installation still a growing profession in Lebanon, this programme offers a chance to fill a critical skills gap, ensuring participants meet both local and international standards.

The project is piloted in Lebanon as part of a broader ambition to develop an international climate qualification. This qualification will allow climate specialists to work globally, opening up new pathways for employment and mobility within the renewable energy sector.

The InnoEnergy Skills Institute plays a central role in the design and delivery of the training curriculum. Known across Europe as a leader in energy education, InnoEnergy has brought its considerable expertise to bear on crafting a programme that meets the evolving needs of the global solar industry.

From understanding photovoltaic (PV) technology to mastering complex site assessments and safety protocols, participants will benefit from InnoEnergy’s holistic approach. The curriculum is aligned with IEC and VDE standards, ensuring that those completing the course are ready to work to the highest international benchmarks.

This course not only covers the technical aspects of solar installation but also teaches participants how to manage and plan renewable energy projects, positioning them for leadership roles within the industry.

The programme is fully funded by IOM, with local certification provided by the Chamber of Commerce in Tripoli. Upon completion, participants will receive certification recognised both within Lebanon and internationally, giving them the credentials to pursue careers beyond the local market.

What makes this initiative particularly compelling is the direct pathway to employment. By pre-selecting candidates with both technical qualifications and essential soft skills—such as resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness—the programme ensures a high calibre of participants. Graduates are then introduced to potential employers, with interviews arranged before, during, or after the course.
