Real baseload power

Equinox Ocean Turbines (EQOT) is developing technology that captures real baseload power from ocean currents. The patented two-stage turbine system is designed to generate cost-competitive electricity without harming marine life. The largely untapped market holds over 700 GW of global potential and offers inherent advantages, including 24/7 predictability and minimal visual impact. Backed by leading investors and strategic partners, including InnoEnergy, Damen Maritime Ventures, NOM, and FOM, EQOT is advancing toward TRL 6 in 2026.

The need

There is an increasing need for a reliable and predictable energy solution that benefits both people and planet. Harvesting energy from the ocean offers one such solution, however, it can be inefficient and costly, with devices insubstantial in design.

The solution

EQOT is dedicated to providing a reliable, clean energy source through ocean current energy. It combines a unique turbine design with proven parts, manufacturing techniques, and supply chains from the maritime industry. This enables a highly efficient capture of ocean current energy, maximising both power generation and earning potential.

The value proposition

  • Simple and unique: harvests energy from low-velocity unidirectional ocean currents.
  • World’s third clean global energy source: 700GW+ potential.
  • High-capacity factor (> 65%): provides affordable and clean baseload energy.
  • Competitive pricing: target LCoE sub € 50 / MWh.
  • Low risk solution: builds on proven elements such as an intrinsically stable construction.
  • Low- to zero environmental impact.
  • Not visible above the water.
  • Offshore energy technology made in the Netherlands.
